How to resize photos for Instagram without cropping (square, portrait and Story)
Your photos get cropped automatically when you post them on Instagram? Here is how to fit photos to square, 4:5 portrait or 9:16 Story sizes without losing important parts, including many photos at once.
| Kebutuhan | Ukuran (piksel) | Rasio |
|---|---|---|
| Instagram persegi | 1080 × 1080 | 1:1 |
| Instagram potret | 1080 × 1350 | 4:5 |
| Story / Reels | 1080 × 1920 | 9:16 |
| Thumbnail YouTube | 1280 × 720 | 16:9 |
| Sampul Facebook | 820 × 312 | – |
| Foto profil | 500 × 500 | 1:1 |
| Full HD | 1920 × 1080 | 16:9 |
Tiga cara menyesuaikan foto
|---|---|---|
| Muat utuh | Seluruh foto masuk tanpa terpotong, sisa ruang diisi latar | Poster, infografis, foto bertulisan, foto grup |
- Pilih mode Media sosial, lalu pilih ukuran, misalnya Instagram potret.
- Klik Ubah ukuran, lalu periksa pratinjaunya. Perbesar untuk memastikan tulisan masih tajam.
- Klik Unduh.
Kenapa latar transparan menjadi putih?
Ukuran file masih terlalu besar.
A carefully arranged product photo suddenly gets cut off when you post it. Heads disappear in a group photo, or the text on a poster is trimmed on the left and right. This happens because your photo's ratio doesn't match the frame the platform uses.
The key is to prepare the photo at the right size before uploading, and to decide yourself which part may be cut off, or whether nothing should be cut at all.
Commonly used sizes
| Need | Size (pixels) | Ratio |
|---|---|---|
| Instagram square | 1080 × 1080 | 1:1 |
| Instagram portrait | 1080 × 1350 | 4:5 |
| Story / Reels | 1080 × 1920 | 9:16 |
| YouTube thumbnail | 1280 × 720 | 16:9 |
| Facebook cover | 820 × 312 | – |
| Profile photo | 500 × 500 | 1:1 |
| Full HD | 1920 × 1080 | 16:9 |
All the sizes above are available as ready-made options. Each platform's requirements can change at any time, so treat these numbers as a general guide.
Three ways to fit a photo
If the photo's ratio differs from the target size, you need to choose how to fit it:
| Method | Result | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Fit | The whole photo fits without cropping; leftover space is filled with a background | Posters, infographics, photos with text, group photos |
| Fill | The frame is filled completely; extra edges are trimmed from the centre | Product photos with the subject in the middle |
| Stretch | The photo is forced to the exact size | Only when the ratio is already nearly the same |
For "no cropping", choose Fit. The background for the leftover space can be set to White, Black, Blurred (a blurred version of the photo itself, so it blends in), a Colour of your choice, or Transparent (PNG and WebP only).
Steps to resize
- Open Resize Image on KASKOW.
- Click Choose files, drag and drop the photos, or paste with Ctrl+V. On a phone you can also shoot with Take photo.
- Choose Social media mode, then pick a size, for example Instagram portrait.
- Under How to fit, choose Fit and set the background. Choose Fill if it's fine for the edges to be trimmed.
- Click Resize images, then check the preview. Zoom in to make sure text is still sharp.
- Click Download.
Photos are processed in your browser, so they are not uploaded to any server.
For a post with several swipeable photos, bring every photo to the same size and fit method. Select all the photos at once, as the tool accepts up to 100 images and packs the results into a single .zip file.
If you want to choose which part gets cropped
Fill always trims from the centre. If the main subject is near an edge, crop manually first:
- Open Crop Image and choose a 4:5, 1:1 or 9:16 ratio.
- Move the crop box over the part you want to keep, then save.
- Click Continue with this file and choose Resize Image to bring it to the exact pixel size.
Other modes: pixels and percent
- Pixels: enter the width or height. With Lock ratio on, the other side is calculated automatically.
- Percent: shrink or enlarge from 10% to 400%.
Frequently asked questions
Will the photo look pixelated if enlarged? Enlarging can't add detail that isn't in the original, so the result may look soft. Start from the largest version of the photo and resize downwards.
Why did the transparent background turn white? JPG doesn't support transparency. Choose PNG or WebP output if the transparent background must stay.
The file is still too large. Continue to Compress Image to shrink it without changing its dimensions.
What about profile photos shown as a circle? Choose Profile photo (500 × 500) and keep the face in the centre, because the corners will be hidden by the circle.
