Langkah menyiapkan (sekali saja)
- Ajari satu hal sederhana: cara membuka aplikasinya kembali bila tertutup.
Bicara lewat telepon sambil menyambung.
| "Layar terlalu kecil/besar" | Pengaturan skala tampilan berubah |
- Jangan membuka dokumen pribadi mereka tanpa alasan.
This phone call is familiar: "What is this? A red message just appeared." Explaining by voice is hard, especially when the caller is not used to computer terms. You imagine, they try to describe, and both of you get frustrated.
The way out: see the screen yourself and help directly from where you are.
What you need
- The parent's or friend's Windows computer, on and connected to the internet
- The host app installed there (once is enough)
- The ID and access password, which they read to you over the phone
- You, with a browser on a laptop or even a phone
Setup steps (one time)
- Visit them or guide them by phone to install the host app.
- Write down the computer's ID in your notebook.
- Set an access password that is easy to read aloud but hard to guess.
- Teach one simple thing: how to reopen the app if it gets closed.
When they need help
- Ask them to open the app and read out the password shown.
- Enter that ID and password in your viewer.
- See what is happening on their screen, then take control as needed.
- Explain what you are doing as you work, so they learn.
- Disconnect when done and tell them you have left.
Talk by phone while connecting. You can also use the in-session chat if a call is not possible.
Problems often solvable remotely
| Complaint | Usually because |
|---|---|
| "The internet is not working" | Wi-Fi dropped, or the wrong network is selected |
| "The printer will not print" | Printer not set as default, or a stuck queue |
| "The screen is too small/big" | Display scaling changed |
| "A file disappeared" | Saved in another folder, such as Downloads |
| "The computer is slow" | Too many programs launching at startup |
Ethics and safety
- Always ask permission before connecting, and say what you are about to do.
- Do not open their personal documents without a reason.
- Do not store their password where others can read it.
- Change the access password when it is no longer needed.
Calm matters: people less familiar with technology often panic. A screen that moves by itself can be frightening, so warn them first.
KASKOW Remote is free, uses a 9-digit ID and password, and the viewer opens in a browser or on a phone, so you can still help while out of the house.
